Birdwatching at Río Cristal Nature Reserve

This guided birdwatching experience takes place in Río Cristal, a protected nature reserve located over 1,700 meters (5,500+ ft) above sea level, on the edge of La Amistad International Park, within the Talamanca mountain range.

The area is known for its exceptional biodiversity and is considered one of the best birding zones in the Boquete region. To date, more than 150 bird species have been recorded here, including many endemic and highland species that are difficult to see elsewhere.

The tour is led by experienced local guides with deep knowledge of the terrain, bird behavior, and seasonal activity. The walk moves at a deliberate pace, allowing time for observation, photography, and learning, rather than rushing through the forest.

This is a nature-focused, low-impact experience designed for people who genuinely want to observe wildlife in its natural environment, not a zoo or artificial setting.
